The 3rd annual Decentralized conference will take place from 30 October to 1 November 2019 at the five-star Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens, Greece. It’s Europe’s premiere blockchain summit set to attract over 1500 like-minded people from 50 countries. And I’m particularly excited to be part of the action this year. Not only will Contentworks be attending as returning media partners, but I’ll be joining an impressive line-up of speakers to share my view of the finance/blockchain industry from a marketing perspective.
The conference schedule and agenda look to be bigger and better than ever before, so let’s take a look at upcoming event highlights and what I’m looking forward to the most.
Decentralized – a Fountain of Knowledge
Organised by the University of Nicosia – pioneers in blockchain research and education – Decentralized is the place to be to fuel your industry knowledge. Welcoming the world’s leading business executives and academics, the event will encourage thoughtful discussion and debate about current trends and future developments across three distinct conference tracks including a Business track, Technology track and an Academic Track.
There will also be two pre-conference workshops taking place on 30 October. The CORDA Bootcamp, for instance, is available to beginners wanting to learn more about the CORDA blockchain platform as well as blockchain engineers who aspire to develop their own platform. The Hyperledger Workshop is also available for Decentralized participants who want to dive into the specifics of Hyperledger Fabric and build their own Decentralized application.

An Impressive Line-Up of Speakers
As the Creative Director of Contentworks, I will be taking to the stage this year to discuss content marketing for blockchain and the finance sector. I’ll be joining a selection of marketing professionals with extensive experience and look forward to sharing ideas and insights. As a speaker, I can offer my connections a 20% Decentralized discount using the code DC19W20. And, if you’d like to arrange a conference meeting, don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’ll be spreading my networking wings and will be happy to chat.

My agency, Contentworks, delivers content marketing specifically for the finance and fintech sector. We have worked on big projects for clients like NEC and tailor content to the needs of each brand. From blogs and articles to e-books, video scripts, whitepapers, PRs, market analysis, social media updates and more, we’ve got you covered.
So, if you’d like to talk content marketing for blockchain, don’t hesitate to say hi.
Back to it. Other people taking to the stage include:
Dr. Adam Black – CEO – Blockstream
Dr. Black is the inventor of the hashcash algorithm used in Bitcoin mining. He’s therefore a highly knowledgeable and inspiring figure within the crypto/blockchain sector and I can’t wait to see him in action. As the current CEO and Co-Founder of Blockstream, a global leader in Bitcoin and blockchain technology, he is sure to be one of the conference’s most-exciting speakers attending Decentralized 2019.
Eva Kaili – MEP Chair of STOA – European Parliament
This year’s conference features a host of industry-leading female speakers including Eva Kaili. Elected in 2014, Eva is a member of the European Parliament and is currently the Chair of the European Parliament’s Science and Technology Options Assessment body (STOA). Kaili has been intensely promoting innovation as a driving force of the establishment of the European Digital Single Market. Fields she is particularly active in include blockchain technology, m/eHealth, big data, fintech and cybersecurity.
George Giaglis – Director – Institute for the Future, University of Nicosia
The University of Nicosia has organised Decentralized for three years running. It’s at the forefront of blockchain research with Professor George M. Giaglis heading the University’s Institute of the Future. As well as being an expert in blockchain tech, he also designed the curriculum of the world’s first academic blockchain degree – MSc in Digital Currency at UNIC.

Networking Opportunities
I’ll be attending Decentralized with the Contentworks crew. Networking opportunities such as this are the perfect way to make new contacts and unite with people you’ve worked with in the past. As well as meeting people through the day, there will also be a networking cocktail evening on Thursday 31st October which provides the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and chat in a more relaxed setting. If last year is anything to go by, this is a lovely and unmissable opportunity at a hotel that certainly deserves its 5-star reputation.
Shopping in Athens
As well as excelling professionally and trying to grow my wealth of the sector in order to deliver continuously exceptional work to clients, I can’t deny my excitement about shopping in Athens. This historical city is buzzing with incredible attractions from the Acropolis to the Pantheon. And after checking out the sights, a bit of retail therapy may well be in order. When in Rome…
