First World Christmas Tree

Place the last gleaming dewdrop on my soaring snowy tree.

Pristine white, pearl strands catching the peaceful candle light

Candy canes hanging from the twinkling feather boughs

My Christmas castle, it’s buried deep in a flurry of parcels

Place the bright guiding star on my sweet snowy tree

Tiffany jewels a world away from what I heard on the news today

His dirty face ragged in the jagged glass balls

My Christmas delight, should not be flawed by his tear streaked plight

Place the tender angel to bless my snowy tree

Fluffy wings, obscure the trudging sadness of irrelevant things

Wishes made safely with warm curtains drawn

My Christmas gladness, is far removed from your distant sadness
