5 Selfie Marketing Ideas For Your Fan Page

Where would we be without selfies… you know … those photos you take of yourself pouting like a duck in the bathroom mirror, starting into the distance or pretending you’re sleeping!

Selfies are everywhere and each week an estimated 17 million of them get uploaded to social media sites. So the question is… can you utilize the power of selfies for your Facebook page or Twitter feed? I know you can so I want to share with you 5 Selfie Marketing Ideas For Your Fan Page to help you get started.

1. Product Selfies

Nothing endorses your products better than your fans so why not encourage your followers to take selfies holding them up? If your brand sells donuts then get them to use the hashtag #donutselfie with your brand name and upload photos to their Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter… you get the idea! The winner gets a month’s free supply of donuts…. Mmmmmm! This idea plays on the selfie obsession whilst also making your products a part of the users activity… the more likes and shares the better!

2. Place Selfies

Encourage your fans to take a photo of your product in unusual locations. For example, if you are selling a magazine then request photos of your magazine being read in unusual places. The most unusual ones will win (make sure your decision is final in your rules!) You might get photos of your magazine at the top of a mountain, the Eiffel tower or on a boat all of which is great publicity for your brand! Remember to use a Facebook app to run contests on this network as timeline contests often infringe upon Facebook’s rules.

3. Check-in Selfies

Encourage employees to post a selfie every time they check-in to your business address. You might have Steve the IT guy drinking his morning coffee or Jenna from accounts doing some filing… maybe even Matt from sales celebrating a victory! At the end of the month select one from each employee, post them on your fan page and ask your followers to vote for their favourite. The winner is actually an employee and not a fan but this will increase page interaction and improve the perception of your brands transparency.

4. Before & After Selfie

If your business is a beauty salon, hairdressers, clothes shop, gym or anything to do with physical appearance then offer a discount in return for a before & after selfie. Your client takes a photo before their haircut, then one afterwards and posts them together mentioning your business. If they tag you then they receive a discount off their next order/visit. This is great for increasing awareness of your business, creating social proof (envy) and engaging client loyalty.

5. Selfie of the Week

Encourage fans to take selfies holding up your slogan/wearing your tshirt/drinking your drink or standing by your store. Feature your favourite one on your Facebook page as #SelfieOfTheWeek and award a discount or prize to the poser. This will encourage others to take part and ensure that your page gets plenty of hits and likes.
